The universal appeal of nature and animals was celebrated in Rocky Point schools during National School Lunch Week’s “Wild About School Lunch”. District Director of Child Nutrition Maureen Branagan and the districtwide cafeteria staff helped to promote the importance of healthy meals in a child’s school day and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. “We had word search, spot the difference, pictogram and crossword BY MAUREEN BRANAGAN FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR, ROCKY POINT UFSD
puzzles as well as cutout mask sheets and coloring sheets,” Ms. Branagan said. The winners in the annual contests at each school received a backpack filled with prizes: stuffed animal, animal pencils, keychains, notepads, bookmarks and many other items! Johnson, Shelby Tappin and Lilliana Trapani at Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School; Kayden Hurley, Michael Nielsen, Isidro Revilla and Nathan Saint Surin at Rocky Point Middle School and Michela Belcastro, William Fischetti, Sara Michele Isidore and Jonathan Roque at Rocky Point High School.
