Volunteer Opportunities

CAPTAIN Community Human Services is a volunteer-led organization. It would not be possible to offer over 30 programs and services without the support of the hundreds of selfless volunteers that generously give their time every year. Below are some of the opportunities available: • Assist customers and sort donations at CAPTAIN’s Treasures • Assist guests with obtaining a three-day emergency supply of food at the Food Pantry • Pickup food or transport clients to the Food Pantry as a Van Driver • Assist in repairing bicycles for the Bike Works program • Help elementary, middle school, and high school students with Homework Help at Cheryl’s Lodge • Help keep Cheryl’s Lodge grounds and building in tip-top shape • Support summer programming at Cheryl’s Lodge • Assist with office work or holiday programs at the Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter • Assist with meal prep and activities for homeless youth at the Street Outreach drop-in centers • Mentor individuals and families to increase self-sufficiency with Family Development • Provide supportive services such as transportation and friendly visiting to seniors through Care Links • Assist with holiday giving programs • Help prepare and file tax returns for low-income families through VITA • Provide support at special events • Assist with general office work, including filing, answering phones, greeting clients, and accepting donations If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete your application online at captaincares.org/volunteer and contact Ava at 518-399-4624 or ava@captaincares.org.
