As the Southern Tier Area Director, it was my pleasure to award the NYSNA “Manager of the Year” award to Tina McCaffery from the Windsor Central School District on behalf of the NYSNA Leadership Team. Tina is the Manager at C. R. Weeks Elementary School. She has always gone above and beyond for her students and has integrated the cafeteria into the school. Caring and dedication has been her strength throughout this pandemic. The Southern Tier Area also had the NYSNA “Employee of the Year!” Deb Battaglia from Binghamton City School District won this prestigious award. Deb is the lead food service

professional at MacArthur Elementary School. She always has one of the best-decorated serving areas and kitchens in the region. Congratulations to Tina and Deb! Hope we can have a proper celebration in the future! I have worked with both of these awesome people and it has been my pleasure to be presenting them with these well-deserved awards, great job! This year is flying by at an alarming pace; please take a moment to appreciate the gifts we have around us. I wish you all happy holidays to you and yours and stay safe.

Patrick Walsh has been working in food service for over 20 years. Patrick is currently the School Lunch Director for Broome Tioga BOCES. He started his career in school lunch 13 years ago. He has enjoyed learning and growing with the recent changes of the last several years. Patrick enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family as much as he can!
