Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship

What do they do? This committee annually review awards/scholarships offered by NYSNA and recommend any changes to the board. They select recipients of all scholarships and awards throughout the year: Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship, Conference Registration Awards, Anne B. Gennings, Champion of Child Nutrition, NYSNA Shining Star, SNA Director, Manager, Employee of the Year, Jeff Siegel Memorial Plaque, etc. MEET THE AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

New York School Nutrition Association Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship awards are made available each year to applicants who are active members of the NYSNA. The purpose of this scholarship is to help defray the cost of improving the recipient's present job performance or career status in school food service. Whether in the early years of a promising career or a more tenured position, ongoing professional development is necessary to hone skills and maintain cutting edge creativity. Everyone benefits from advanced training and development opportunities. Yet, not everyone works for a district that can afford to fund certification opportunities for their employees. I take education pretty seriously and am now a MI for child nutrition so it seems logical that I would be interested in members who might want to apply for a scholarship to further their education and to be a part of choosing those that are nominated for recognition for going above and beyond in their school nutrition positions Fun facts: I taught classes in natural childbirth for over 20 years and helped birth 53 babies! In 2001 I donated a kidney to my cousin, John. I owned a restaurant and catering business for 15 years and made more wedding cakes than I could count! I bottle a line of gluten free gourmet sauces and dressings.

I wanted to participate in this committee because I think it is very important to recognize and celebrate our outstanding Foodservice workers. Fun fact: I’m an avid wine collector... or maybe it’s just an avid wine consumer To learn more about the scholarships and awards that NYSNA offers CLICK HERE!

CASSIE MILLER-LEONE A.J. Letizio Sales & Marketing, Inc. I chose to participate on the Awards & Scholarship Committee because I love celebrating all the amazing things happening in school nutrition, and what a better time than this year to shine a light on everyone’s hard work! Fun Fact: I LIVE for live music. During non-COVID times, I’d be catching around one set a week! I’ve been watching live streams since the pandemic hit but it’s just not quite the same dancing in my living room.
