IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!

I wanted to be part of this committee to be able to give back and serve. I have been in Food Service for my entire life, at times holding two jobs. I finally have the time to give and be part of a group that is doing great things for our industry. Fun fact: I started as a Cook in the US Coast Guard and my ship was the on “scene leader” for the surface search after the Challenger disaster. We also did many drug busts and saved hundreds of people from sinking boats. An experience I will never forget.

I chose to participate in the professional development committee because I felt with my background as a food broker/manufacturer representative I could provide a well-rounded approach to help new directors and veterans in our field. Fun fact: I feel like over the pandemic everyone took on some new hobbies/crafts. I decided to build an ice-skating rink for my three year old son (and my wife and I) to enjoy.

Professional development is extremely important to both our Foodservice Directors and our front-line staff. I became involved in this committee because I felt that there was an opportunity to help out members in this area. Fun Fact: I am a College Basketball Fanatic - traveling each year to the NCAA Tournament.

As NYSNA members, we have committed ourselves to lifelong learning and professional development. This committee is designed to support that objective and our members. While professional development is a personal passion, I was further intrigued by the opportunities that being on a NYSNA committee could provide. Not only does this committee allow me to network with like-minded individuals and improve my leadership qualities, but, as a group, we have the ability to impact all members with the quality of continuing education opportunities we organize. Ultimately, the ability to impact NYSNA members in a positive way convinced me to participate on the personal development committee. Fun fact: I am an animal enthusiast. I have a dog, two cats, and four reptiles.
