Schools were given even more opportunities to implement a Hot Chocolate Milk Program with ADANE’s recently completed Hot Chocolate Milk campaign, in which three school districts from New York State were awarded a two-gallon Hot Chocolate

Charles W. Baker High School (Baldwinsville Central School District) is helping students stay warm this winter with Hot Chocolate Milk.

While the school year has been different from what we all expected – American Dairy Association North East’s (ADANE) commitment to helping schools implement new and exciting menu items to help boost meal participation hasn’t wavered. One of those new and innovative items that students can’t get enough of is Hot Chocolate Milk! In just two years since ADANE first rolled out the Hot Chocolate Milk pilot program, more than 50 school districts have enrolled in the program, which helps to generate excitement for nutritious milk and increase meal participation. Needless to say, Hot Chocolate Milk has been an instant hit for both students, their families and school nutrition. Students already prefer to drink flavored milk at school, so it’s no surprise that Hot Chocolate Milk – which is simply the school’s chocolate milk heated up – is wildly popular. And, students get all of the same great nutritional benefits as white milk, which provides a great source of calcium, protein and potassium. Why do schools love to serve Hot Chocolate Milk? ADANE reported an increase in daily breakfast participation by more than 10 percent for schools that participated in the Hot Chocolate Milk pilot program during the 2018- 2019 school year. So, it’s a win-win for everyone!

Milk dispenser that will continue to assist their efforts in serving more students and boosting meal participation. The winning schools were Driver Middle School in the Marcellus Central School District (Onondaga County), Fairport High School in the Fairport Central School District (Monroe County) and Yonkers School 23 in the Yonkers Public Schools (Westchester County). We understand times have been difficult this past year and will continue to present challenges every day in the way we educate and nourish students. And American Dairy Association North East is here to help you help students. New and innovative programs and menu items, like Hot Chocolate Milk, offer variety and tastier options for students, something they can look forward. It’s a simple way to bring enjoyment – and maybe even a smile – to children’s faces. If you’re interested in bringing a Hot Chocolate Milk program to your school, our ADANE Youth Nutrition Specialists would love to assist you! ADANE can work with your school to offer a variety of promotional materials to help attract students, drive traffic, and ultimately increase school meal participation.
