COMMITTEES Industry MEET THE INDUSTRY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

COMMITTEES Industry

What do they do? This committee serves as a liaison between the food service industry and the association members in all matters of mutual interest and concern, promote the goals and objectives of the association by assisting and supporting the association sponsored meetings and events, and shall actively strive for improving industry participating at the events. The committee recommends to the board any special projects that want to be conducted to bring attention to industry activities and benefit members, with a professional development focus.

ANDREA THOMPSON American Dairy Association North East I’m honored to serve on the Industry Committee for cross collaborative insights and how to effectively meet the needs of our customers. Fun Fact: I’m a collector of everything Betty Boop!

JASON SHANKS Rich’s Products

I volunteer my time to the industry committee because I feel that it broadens my professional experience working with other school nutrition professionals and it also gives me the opportunity to share my experience from an industry standpoint. Fun fact:

TEISHA ROBERTSON Pilgrim’s Pride/Goldkist

As a committee member I am able to keep my finger on the pulse with what is happening with not only our industry partners, but with the districts as well. It is a great way to find solutions to what we are all facing, and work together to ensure we are successful. Fun fact: I try to run a marathon every year, hiked the Inca Trail for 4 days to see Machu Picchu, and a HUGE FAN of Karaoke!

I volunteered to participate on this committee because Child Nutrition is my passion. I also hope to strengthen my leadership skills, build relationships, and help shape the direction of the association in my term. Fun fact: As a native Long Islander I am an avid beach-goer, as you might suspect, but also a bike rider and gardener (which is probably a surprise to most)!

If you look up Dance Dad in the dictionary my face is right there!

As a former national board member of the Manufacturers Agents of the Food Service Industry, also known as MAFSI, I appreciate the importance of organizations like NYSNA. I am thrilled to be a part of the group and be able to offer my perspective from the Manufacturer’s Representative side of the business. Fun fact: I love playing water polo but I can’t swim!

DIANA McCARTHY, CHAIR Wild Mikes

I believe in the NYSNA and what they provide for their members. As we all navigate new ways of doing business, it has been exciting to see, first hand, how the association drives to be a dedicated, and innovative resource for Child Nutrition Professionals in New York. Why wouldn’t I want to be involved? Fun Fact: I LOVE being a grandmother!!!!

I like that this committee gives industry a voice. That voice, in turn, leads to collaboration with SNA members and brings forward new opportunities aimed to improve the school food experience for the students of New York, a passion we all share. I enjoy the opportunity to represent industry and to be a part of that process. Fun fact: Most people know that I live in Michigan, but I am originally from the Charlotte, NC area and most of my extended family lives in the Carolinas.

TOM FERRIS ES Foods

I grew up in the Buffalo, NY Public School System so NYSNA has a total soft spot in my heart. I ate NY public school lunches almost every day! Fun fact: I watch little to no sports on TV, except for NCCA Women’s Fast Pitch Softball. I find the competitiveness, aggressiveness and over all speed of the sport to be fascinating.

MARIANNE DAYTON Affinity Sales

Being on the committee it has allowed me to collaborate with other industry professionals to work towards providing support and information to our school partners. Fun Fact: I am a beekeeper and look to provide a safe and healthy environment to our much-needed honey bee population
